Improving and evaluating the cassava reference set for Africa (G7010.01.01)
This project builds on discovery activities conducted in GCP Phase I.
The overall objective is to better describe cassava genetic resources, and to make them available to developing-country breeding programmes. It aims at doing this by:
(1) improving and adding value to the existing reference set, and,
(2) improving conservation of the cassava germplasm reference set, as well as improving access to the same by developing-country programmes.
It is anticipated that genetic resources and information made accessible through this project will provide a quantum leap in cassava improvement, particularly in target countries in Africa.
